Comrades,

During 2009, the Tramp Brigade Organization of Historical Interpreters (TBOHI) was certified as a 501(c) charitable organization in the State of South Carolina. We also purchased an insurance policy for our members through Yates & Associates in Edgewater, MD. They specialize in reenacting clubs and granted us liability and accidental injury coverage for up to $1,000,000 per incident. This insurance gives us the necessary coverage to sponsor events and cover our organization members if they attend events anywhere in the United States.

501(c) Incorporation and liability and accidental injury Insurance provide the following for us:

1. Protection for our members from personal liability during reenactments. If we should be sued, then we are covered.

2. Provides necessary coverage to operate on NPS, Private or public lands. Land owners are more receptive to a group that carries their own insurance.

3. Protects our members at other events. At venues we do not have direct control.

The premium for this insurance for 2010 is $470 and is due on 1 April 2010.. We are asking each Charter and Field Member to donate $30 each by 31 March, 2010 to help cover the Organization's cost for this insurance. Those who provide the requested donations will be placed on the Organization's Insurance Policy, as well as their spouse and any minor children under the age of 16. Youths 16 and over are eligible for membership in the TBOHI and are asked to donate for the insurance as an adult.

The benefit of this insurance policy is not just for the organization and its sponsored events, but that it provides coverage to you at other events as long as you register as a member of the TBOHI.. Even if you are not able to make one TBOHI sponsored event in 2010.

Another benefit available to our members is the option to claim costs for supporting TBOHI events as donations to the a 501(c) charitable organization. To take advantage of this, we ask that you provide the requested $30 donation for the organization's insurance policy and then when you have expenses (clothing, supplies, food and fuel) in support of TBOHI Events that you provide Brian McGarrahan a copy of your receipts so he can provide you a receipt from the organization for those expenses.

Those who choose not to make the requested donation will not have their names included on the TBOHI Insurance Policy, but will be placed as Associate Members on our membership list. We will continue to inform you about events and activities as an Associate Member.

We'll send out reminders as the due date gets closer, but for those who want to provide their donation now, please send the funds to Greg Deese via paypal at CarolinaTgr@netscape.net or by Check or Money Order to him at this home 7777 Oldridge Rd, North Charleston, SC 29418.

Respectfully,

Peter M. Berezuk

Comrades,

So far we have recieved insurance donations from the following members...

Greg Deese
Pete Berezuk
Tom 'Cornbread' Key
Brian Hicks
Josh Fieldhouse
Dan Lewandowski

My thanks to those who have already answered the call for donations.

That gets us to $180 of the $470 we need for our 2010 Insurance policy. I've laid out the benefits to you as individuals and the group as a whole to have a solid insurance policy in place. If you are able to donate you can either send the requested $30 to the organization via paypal ( http://www.paypal.com ) to donate@trampbrigade.com or you can send it by money or personal check made out to "Tramp Brigade Organization of Historical Interpreters" in the mail to Pete Berezuk, 296 Coming St, Charleston, SC 29403.

We are going to pay our insurance policy in full on March 31, so if you are going to help our organization pay for this insurance policy please donate soon.

Here is the update on Insurance Donations to date.

The following members have provided insurance donations and are confirmed as Charter and Field Members for 2010 and will be placed on the TBOHI Insurance Policy.

Greg Deese
Pete Berezuk
Tom 'Cornbread' and Sherry Key
Brian Hicks
Josh Fieldhouse
Dan Lewandowski
Tyler and Jessica Scott
Brian McGarrahan
Shaun Simpson

That is 9 members for a total of $270 raised to meet the $470 premium. That premium is due on 1 April so it is imperitive that those remaining members who have the means to support our organization and desire to be placed on the insurance policy send in their donation. We have room for 6 more individuals on the current quote, but if we have more donations provided we will request a new quote to cover the supporting members.

Thanks for you support and I will update you all when this matter is concluded.
