Since May of 2007 I have tried every effort possible to advance our organization and increase our memebership. This year we have lost some key support, some due to unexpected life changes and others to unknown reasons. Recruitment has also not been as successful as I would like, so I need to change the brand and get people excited again.

I have given this a lot of thought and I want to reorganize our field name to the "Carolina Rifles", representing Company E, 17th SC. There is a few advantages to this.

1. It will give us a more refiend impression standard to follow. One company versus an entire Brigade. I would hope that we could gather 30-100 people especially from our friends at certain events.

2. The name gives our location and it's easier to remember and speak.

3. The Carolina Rifles were equppied with the Enfield Rifle from the start of the Tramp Brigade. Co. E ,17th SC is well documented and researched.

We are still retaining the Tramp Brigade OHI titles for modern purposes in relation to our 501 (c), bank account and corporate records, however; I would like for everyone to refer to us as the Carolina Rifles after "To Prevent the Effusion of Blood" in Janaury. I will also have a new website contructed and forum, almost all of our information will be migrated.

http://www.carolinarifles.org

Anyone with a good standing in the Tramp Brigade Mess/OHI as of January 10, 2011, will automatically be enrolled in the Carolina Rifles. Inactive TBOHI members will not transfer to the new roll. We will also hold elections for field positions.
Lieutenant-Seargent-Corp.

In addition to recruiting, we will still host events and if anyone attends more than one CR event in a year they will automatically be granted an associate membership.

I want to thank everyone for their support for the last three years and I hope to see you in the field as the "Carolina Rifles" in 2011.

Sometimes I feel like I am talking to myself on this forum but, I will still update it from time to time. I have three more events in 2011. April 14-17, Occupation of Fort Sumter, Battle of Resaca in May and I will accompany Brian Sharp and friends to Virginia to help out with the 11th New York at the 150th Manassas.

From July to December I am focusing strictly on recruiting. I will cover South Carolina and Georgia looking for men who want to take on the challenge. I have spent far too much time on other forums and tried to recruit from within the hobby with little or no success, like many things in life you have to build from scratch.

I am not going to change the website to "carolinarifles" but, I will keep the name for the field. Co. F will also be our specific and primary impression, we can still do other roles, like the Charleston Battalion for 2013, however; I don't want to dilute things too much.

If you are out there, let me know if you are still around. Depending on our current numbers we may carry insurance this year or not.

I'm here. I finally got back on by making a new user name.

I have spent too much time dicking around on other forums and with some real phony people who I thought were friends. So I have to learn the hard way and now rededicate myself to my original intent.

I am sorry to let this unit down and to not finish the project, I am resolving for 2012 to increase our size, produce good events and preserve the history of the Tramp Brigade, the Carolina Rifles and the South Carolina soldier.

Sincerely

Greg Deese
