Comrades,

Ron Videau contacted me about doing some modeling for an Artist in my Mexican War Uniform. That Artist is also interested in South Carolina Uniforms of the Civil War Period. The date when the Artist will be in Charleston is still to be determined, but it will be the week of 7 to 11 December. I'm planning to support with my Mexican War and Commutation Kits. If anyone else is interested with Mid and Late War uniforms. I would think a Frock Coat and then a Charleston Depot with English Accoutrements and Enfields would be good resprestatives.

With that said once we have a date and times I will post them up. If you're interested just let Ron and me know here and we'll coordinate more off line.

To give you a little more detail on what is taking place with the Artist her name is Pamela Patrick White her husbands name is Bryant White. Both are nationally known historic artists dealing mostly in the area of French and Indian war as well as Revolutionary war time periods. Pam has been commissioned by the Citadel do something for them as and by some other party as well. The information that I have is this they’ll be in town Dec 8, 9, and 10 to take photos of their subjects what they need in the way of models and uniforms is this. Mexican war and several other SC military uniforms form the entire time period of the civil war. When I get any other info I’ll let y’all know if you would like to take a look at the artist’s work their website address is http://www.whitehistoricart.com/

Any help that you could give to bring SC soldiers of the civil war to life would be most welcome.

Ron

Thanks for chiming in Ron.

I've been cooresponding with Pamela and here are two snippets she gave me about what is needed.

Quote:
My Mexican war piece involves the Palmetto Regiment - Colonel Gladden passing the Palmetto flag to Lieutenant Selleck standing on a shed which adjoins the Belen Gate. My resources have regular infantry in model 1839 forage caps with the palmetto on the front with sky blue jackets and a dark blue frock coat for officers.Since we are in a battle I need to know if these uniforms are still correct? What variations are acceptable?Id be more than pleased to have some regular infantry below these two guys if possible - if not I will work around it.

The Civil War piece is inside the iron clad battery on Cummins Point. The focus is on the Sumter Guards as support for the Marion Artillery who were firing at the Union Navy and Fort Sumter. I have some artillery shots that will go in the background with the Guards in the foreground (doing what? I am not sure yet) Looking for full gear and guns for models.

I've already replied to her in general about the Mexican War information. I'm going to delve into the research and figure out what guns were emplaced in the iron clad battery and the specific uniforms of the Sumter Guard and Marion Artillery. If anyone has information available on the Summer of 1863 for either of these units it would be helpful.

Once we get more word, Ron or I will press it out for those available to assist.

Pete (And all) I just got off the phone with Pam the artist she said the photo shot for posing will be at Ft. Moultrie at 10:30 AM on Wednesday Dec 9th.

Also I wanted to ask if I could use some of your kit for the shoot as I have not gotten mine up and running yet. She also wanted me to ask if you could bring any and all of the uniforms in question that you may have as you can pose in more than one of them for the shoot.

If you have any questions just ask me here or by my cell at 864-909-3648.

See you at the meeting at Ft. L on Saturday morning.

Ron
