Greetings Gentlemen:
I have been viewing your site for several weeks now and am very impressed with your primary source material and enjoyed reading the various posts. I decided to finally take the "plunge" and introduce myself to you all. I have recently moved to Summerville and have been searching for a quality unit to fall in with and support the "need".
Although I am orignally from the upstate New York area I decided to attend The Citadel for my college experience and graduated with a History degree in 2002. I was fortunate enough to work with Rick Hatcher for a semester as an intern at Fort Moultrie. It was a blast transcribing the various Ordnance reports. After school I entered the Army as a Cavalry (Armor) officer. I spent time at Fort Knox, Fort Polk, and Fort Lewis. I was also fortunate enough to make some pit stops in Baghdad, Najaf, and in the Diyala Province of Iraq. This past Thanksgiving I left the military to pursue my civilian interests and relocated to Summerville with my wife. I am now working in Columbia (yes, I commute) with Westinghouse.
I have been out of the hobby for some time now but recently pulled my kit back out and feel the need to renew my interest. I began reenacting when I was 14 with an outfit in New York and gradually began to move to the more progressive side of things. I did a few events with the Liberty Rifles and Southern Guard and then faded off of the reenacting map.
I really like the direction you all seem to be stearing this Brigade. Battlefield preservation is very important to me and I am glad to see it is an important part of your organization. It is exciting to see your vision of producing a group of 40 to "properly" execute company level drill and have to capacity to host events. And as a bonus, the South Carolina impression is the best in all of the hobby. I was also glad to see some military folks in your ranks.
I would be very interested in seeing your group in action around the Charleston area, if you would allow. My kit is more a generic AOV type but I do have a Charleston Depot jacket. I also have a Federal kit for those occasions of galvanization.
Thanks much for the site, your work and your commitment. I would love to hear from you all soon and look forward to meeting up with you soon.
Respectfully,
Kenneth Moran
