Good Day All,

Since it hasn't been identified already, I am interested in what information has been brought to light about the First South Carolina Issue in December of 1861.

I understand that single breasted Frock Coats and Black Trousers with Blue Stipes were issued.

As a detail-oriented individual, I would like to know if any original garments have been inspected and were they are so I can look at them myself if possible and help with the research.

Comrades,

I was looking up some info on the use of Cassimere cloth in the Civil War and found this on the Richmond Depot website...

http://www.kabar44.com/researchCassimereDispatch.htm

It describes single breasted frock coats of Cadet Grey Cassimere with Palmetto Buttons being issued to the Washington Light Infantry in Charleston in December of 1860. Although they were not assigned to the Tramp Brigade, this does shed some light on what was available in SC at the start of the War.

Any thoughts?
