1.Captured at Petersburg, VA July 30,1864. He appears on roll of POW's at Point Lookout, Md on August 5, 1864 and was received at Elmira on August 12, 1864. He died Sept. 7, 1864 of Typhoid. His effects were 1 pr. shoes, 1 hat, 1 pocket book. The last letter his wife received was before capture and dated July 23, 1864. W.L. Faulkner was born in Lancaster County, SC 20 Feb. 1825. He is buired in Grave No. 309.

“The Arsenal was an important prize. It had in storage nearly 18,000 muskets, about 3,400 rifles, over 1000 pistols, and a few large pieces of ordnance including five 24-pound
Field howitzers--arms enough to equip three divisions.
On December 30, Governor Pickens ordered the Arsenal occupies by state forces and the Seventeenth Regiment of Infantry moved in under the command of Col. John Cunningham. Humphreys was allowed to salute his flag before lowering it. He did so by firing a 32 gun salute, one for each state remaining in the Union at that time, and he was permitted to take the flag with him.”

Left Culpepper, Va. On the 5th of November 1862. Arrived at Gordonsville, Va. On the next day, from thence to Richmond, Va., thence to Petersburg, thence to Weldon, thence to Halifax, N.C.
From that point to Tarboro and that point to Kinston, N.C.
For the 14th of December were engaged in a fight with the enemy, in which my company behaved as good soldiers who are determined to conquer their enemy. We were also engaged at Goldsboro on 17 Dec 1862.

Left Kinston, NC on the sixth day of February + aby railway to Wilmington, the ninth from thence to Camp Jenkins, where we struck camp on the ninth day of February, 1863, then left Camp Jenkins on 25 February, which camp was 15 miles from Wilmingotn, near the Albermarle Sound, from there we camped within 4 miles of Wilmington.

Horn Company C , 1st SC regulars (Butler’s). Horn, R. L. - transferred from Co. I, 17th Regiment (Infantry), S. C. V., December 7, 1863; wounded in action on James Island, July 5, and 6, 1864.
