Gents,
I don't know if you know of this photo, but I have found one of Pvt. Bartos Jefcoat. Co. B of the Holcombe Legion Cavalry. It is on P. 193 of Ron Fields "Uniforms of the Civil War". Pvt. Jefcoat is wearing a plain shell jacket that shows 5 buttons, but there could be a 6th unseen at the bottom. (The caption states that it's a RD III, but I'm pretty sure it isn't) It could be a N.C. Jacket, but the collar doesn't look quite right. South Carolina State Issue perhaps?
After the Holcombe Leg. became part of the 7th South Carolina Cavalry, Pvt. Jefcoat was captured at Cold Harbor, May 30th '64 and died in a Federal POW camp.

Will, it could be a 'Charleston Depot' jacket... Do you have any ability to do a scan of the image and post for those of us who aren't blessed with your library? Thanks...

It could be a Charleston Depot, but I don't remember seeing belt loops on it. I'll see what I can do about scanning a photo.

Hmmm...it seems that the tech has defeated me again. I'm sorry guys, I'll keep trying. After looking at the pic again, Pvt. Jefcoats arms would be blocking any view of beltloops on the jacket. So I don't know what to make of it.
